Accommodation

Hotel accommodation has been reserved at two locations – Tinapa Lakeside Hotel (http://www.tinapalakesidehotel.com/) and Axari Hotel (http://www.axarihotel.com). Please note that Shuttle buses will be on hand daily to convey participants accommodated at Axari Hotel.

Room rate: The package negotiated by the workshop organizers for both hotels is N11,000 per night for bed and continental breakfast.

Mode of payment: payment for accommodation is to be undertaken by the funding agencies in bulk to the hotel and/or directly by cash by previously identified participants, which will be conveyed to the hotel.

Please note:, all participants are reminded to settle their bills for dinner, drinks, rooms service, telephone, laundry and other additional hotel expenses directly with the hotel.

Daily Subsistence Allowances (DSA)

The DSA will be in accordance with the rates agreed by the workshop organizers. This will be paid either prior to arrival or at the workshop venue.

Currency

The Nigeria Naira is the currency for which monetary transactions in cash will be conducted at the workshop venue.

The hotel accepts 2 modes of payment – Cheque from organizations and Cash from individuals.

Workshop Venue

Venue for the workshop is Tinapa Lakeside hotel where all workshop related activities will take place at the conferencing facilities. The Secretariat will also be located at the Tinapa lakeside hotel.

Conference related meals: Group lunch and 2 tea/coffee breaks will be provided daily during the workshop.

Transportation

An airport desk and a waiting lounge has also been secured for participants at the Calabar airport.

Workshop Hosts and Hostesses, as well as Porters wearing branded T-shirts for the workshop logistics manager would be on hand to receive all participants arriving by air.

The workshop logistics managers will provide transport to and from the airport to the hotels.

Road travel:

For all participants arriving by road, you are kindly requested to proceed to Tinapa Lakeside hotel, where your name will be crosschecked to ascertain your hotel. Shuttle buses would be on hand to convey you to your hotel, should it not be Tinapa Lakeside Hotel.

All travel itineraries for air travelers should be sent to the aforementioned contact persons to ensure we receive you promptly and well.

A medical unit will be on standby for dedicated number of hours daily to attend to any emergency medical requests. Kindly contact the Secretariat for onward directions to the medical unit for any emergency medical assistance that you may require.

It is currently rainy season in Calabar. The days are hot with temperatures from 24-29ºC while there is a slight drop in evening temperatures at 23- 26ºC. We recommend you bring appropriate summer & light clothing.

Amenities & Leisure activities

The hotel has a One-Stop-Shop for toiletries. In addition there are shops located at the business areas of Tinapa complex, though a distance away from the hotel.

Also there is a functional Village square and a Waterpark with different water games, breath-taking slides, a wave-pool- surfer’s delight, etc.

There will be armed security presence in the hotel and at the conference halls. However, please do not leave your valuable items unattended either in the hotel or conference areas i.e. phones, laptops, jewelry, etc.

Please comply with all security checks for your safety.

The Hotel reception has Safe deposit boxes in the rooms and at the reception to store your valuable items.

In addition, please take precaution when going outside the hotel at night.
